Wound Care Boot CampNutrition(0.75 CME Credits / 0.75 CEU Credits)
This course is designed for physicians, fellows, mid-level practitioners, nurses and other allied health professionals who are involved in the care of patients with acute and chronic wounds.
Nutritional compromise is often unrecognized in the patient with compromised wound healing. Protein Energy Malnutrition must be diagnosed and aggressively treated to optimize wound management strategies. This session will introduce general nutritional concepts, and then build upon this foundation to provide a protocol for the nutritional evaluation and management of the compromised wound care patient. Advanced assessment technologies, including Bioelectrical Impedance Analysis will be discussed. The participant will gain an understanding of the importance of integrating a nutritional algorithm into a comprehensive wound care program and how this can improve wound healing outcomes.
