TOPICS AND EDUCATIONAL CONTENT

Wound Care Boot Camp is intended to provide a strong foundation in the basic tenets of wound care, including physiology, assessment and classification. An introduction to the etiology, diagnosis and management algorithms of the major wound care types is provided. While the content of this course is focused at an introductory level and designed for novice wound care providers, it is also an excellent review for the experienced wound care professionals.

PURPOSE FOR THE ENDURING MATERIAL

Wound Care Boot Camp was created to meet the needs of an expanding clinical specialty, based on the requests of physicians, nurses and technicians to provide a web based online introductory wound care educational offering. This course will provide introductory background, knowledge and skills to meet the potential knowledge gap of providers working in the field of wound care.

COURSE OBJECTIVES

  • Understand the basic tenets of wound healing physiology and recognize factors that can cause compromised healing.
  • Discuss the assessment and classification of chronic wounds that allows for implementation of clinical algorithms for initial management.
  • Recognize the scientific basis supporting the management of chronic wounds.
  • Employ therapeutic approaches in Wound Care.
  • Integrate into their practices the knowledge obtained through didactic lectures and clinical case studies.
