| Does Hyperbaric Medicine Principles & Practice qualify as an Introductory 40 Hour Course? | TOP | |
| YES!! Hyperbaric Medicine: Principles and Practice is a complete ACGME CME accredited 40 hour introductory course that contains a robust, full and complete curriculum and an exam after each module. | ||
| Does HMP&P meet the CMS educational requirements to allow physicians to practice and bill for hyperbaric services? | TOP | |
| YES!! CMS requires that physicians be credentialed by the medical staff of the hospital operating the hyperbaric facility. Hospital credentialing is based upon adequate initial training, logged HBO hours and documented continuing education. HMP&P fully satisfies the educational requirements and has been used as a basis to credential HBO physicians in over 100 hospitals. | ||
| Is Hyperbaric Medicine: Principles and Practice Endorsed by a Professional Society or Organization? | TOP | |
| YES!! HMP&P is endorsed by the American College of Hyperbaric Medicine (ACHM). The ACHM has used this curriculum to train several thousand physicians. The ACHM also offers an examination to provide additional certification in hyperbaric medicine to hyperbaric physicians and has set basic training standards for clinical hyperbarics. To date, over 3,500 individuals have been trained and credentialed through the ACHM. These standards have been adopted by numerous hyperbaric facilities and by third party payers. | ||

| Is Hyperbaric Medicine: Principles and Practice a pathway course for CHT certification? | TOP | |
| YES!! The NBDHMT has adopted a policy in opposition to the United Stated Government, the Department of Defense and the world literature which all recognize and endorse the superiority of online education and training. Thus the NBDHMT has not endorsed this course. To address this oversight, the ACHM is developing a certification process and examination for CHT’s that will recognize online and virtual training as an accepted method to satisfy the requirements for initial certification as well as for continuing education. For more information about the ACHM certification, visit: www.ACHM.org. | ||

| Is Hyperbaric Medicine: Principles and Practice recognized by the UHMS? | TOP | |
| YES!! Until as recent as late 2008, this course was endorsed by UHMS. However, this approval was withdrawn after our curriculum moved to an online format/version. The UHMS has united with the NBDHMT in opposition to online education. Concerns that their decisions are based on protectionism, are self-serving and monopolistic have been raised. The ACHM has agreed with the large body of knowledge and the evidence based studies that support the efficacy and effectiveness of virtual training. The ACHM considers the educational needs of its membership to be a priority and strives to be proactive in providing state of the art training modules and contemporary educational opportunities to its members. The ACHM has therefore endorsed HMP&P, as well as other online educational offerings. | ||
